My mother recently asked me what exactly my job entailed. I told her that my job is to “Help my clients remove fear from their decision-making, and replace it with confidence and excitement.” My mother replied if I was her strategist, she would never lose her sense of fear. In a Japanese family, I believe this is called love. 

I started my career in London working on the Apple account for TBWA / Media Arts Lab, playing a helping hand on putting a slew of iProducts on their path to world domination. 

Most recently, I spent 4 years at We Are Social, initially leading the Strategy team in Singapore and SEA, inculcating a culture of brand and audience planning into the world’s leading social agency. I also spearheaded the shift the agency is making to become a strategic consultancy, helping brands get ahead of the change curves brought about by socially driven digital futures. Latterly I stepped into a role as Regional Head of Growth for APAC, where I was responsible for crafting the overall growth strategy for the region, as well as pipeline development and conversion through strategic leadership on key client opportunities.

In between, I led the Strategy team at Iris Worldwide in Singapore, heading up a team of multi-disciplinary thinkers across brand strategy, comms & media planning, content marketing and future strategy.

I’m currently enrolled at the National University of Singapore, Asia’s leading business school, in their acclaimed Executive MBA program where I'm diving deep into the dynamic world of Asian business. This experience is sharpening my commercial acumen and adding a powerful new dimension to my proven track record in strategic innovation and creative storytelling.

I believe great modern brands must stand for something but never stand still. In a world where people are taking drastic steps to block ads, the brands who’ll still be relevant in tomorrow’s world will be the ones who have remembered to treat people as people, educate them, entertain them, connect them with each other, be useful to them.

I would describe myself as multi-disciplinary strategic thinker and creative writer. I write strategies for some of the world’s leading brands. I help start ups articulate their vision to investors. I lecture at conferences and universities. I have drafted some unloved Tv scripts. I write satirical plays & other people’s wedding speeches. 

I’m half Japanese, half Irish, born in Tokyo, raised in London, have until recently been in Singapore, but now back in Tokyo. As a diehard Liverpool fan, on weekends you can find me building a shrine to Arne Slot in my house.
